Inflection, 2026
Inflection transforms an industrial cargo container into a dynamic, multisensory environment. Through custom-designed LED fixtures and mirrored walls, Brill creates an illusion of infinite depth, where light unfolds in diffusive, rhythmic gestures—receding and emerging in a continuous visual dialogue. Brill’s installation explores spatial relationships and visual language, inviting viewers into an experience that oscillates between vastness and intimacy. As visitors move through the container, they encounter a shifting interplay between expansive perception and a reflective core—an “inflection point” where environment, perception, and self-awareness converge.
The installation features a collaborative, “living” musical accompaniment by Akron-based artist Theron Brown, whose improvisational jazz compositions respond in real time to the visual environment. Central to the work is new technology developed by Brill’s studio, enabling dynamic spatialization of sound throughout the installation. This system analyzes visual content
in real time, distributing sound across the space to align with shifting light patterns. The result is an evolving synthesis of sound and image—an immersive field of organic and mechanical forms that guide the viewer through a continuously unfolding experience.
Curated Storefront is honored to host Inflection, made possible by a grant to Akron Soul Train from The John S. & James L. Knight Foundation.
